Learn how to spin yarn using three different historically accurate methods.  You will practice the Navajo inspired Southwest Spindle, The Tibetan Spindle and the Compromise Russian Spindle.  All of the Spindles have a non-traditional hook on the end with a consequent result: They are easy to learn and utilize. All materials are included in the class and the student will get to pick their favorite spindle to take home.  Additional spindles and bowls will be available for purchase.  A minimum age of 11 is recommended with all minors requiring adult supervision. Your instructor will be Robin Goatey of The Dancing Goats Farm.  He is an instructor at the John C. Campbell Folk School and past president of The Artisans Guild of Southern Illinois.  He is also an accomplished and award- winning craftsman is several arts including woodcarving, tapestry weaving, ceramics and metallurgy.  He is a member of The American Tapestry Alliance and The Hand Weavers Guild of America.
