To maintain the health and wellness of our community, O’Fallon – Shiloh Emergency Medical Services is now offering Virtual Hybrid CPR Training Classes. The training is divided into two parts, including online instruction and in-person skills assessment. During the online instruction, students learn how to recognize and treat life-threatening emergencies throughout the course, including cardiac arrest and choking for adult, child, and infant victims. Students also learn to recognize the warning signs of heart attack and stroke in adults and breathing difficulties in children and how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Once the online portion of the class is complete, students attend a skills instruction course and receive their completion card.

Intended Audience

All lay rescuers, such as employees in the workplace, daycare employees, babysitters, firefighters, police, airline personnel, security guards, family members of patients at high risk for sudden cardiac death, other lay rescuers, those who may need to respond to an emergency, and anyone needing a CPR course for employment purposes. This course is not intended for Healthcare Providers.

How to Sign up for Online CPR?

Once participants register and pay for one of the available skills instruction dates, they will receive an email, including their online ATEM link. This email is typically received 2-weeks before the student’s skills instruction course. When students complete the online portion of the training, they must either print or bring a digital copy of their “Online Certificate of Completion” to the skills instruction course.

What is the Skills Instruction Course?

Here, students meet with certified CPR instructors one-on-one for a hands-on demonstration. Using a CPR dummy, students will perform:

  • Adult, child, and infant CPR
  • Adult and infant choking
  • Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

Once the student has demonstrated the required skills, they receive a card good for 2-years through American Trauma Event Management (ATEM).

What to Bring to the Skills Instruction Course?

Appropriate face covering and a digital or printed version of your online completion certificate

Health and Safety Requirements for Skills Instruction Course

Students are to bring and wear face coverings during the skill instruction course. Latex-free gloves will be made available to all participants when performing hands-on practice. Only one student will be allowed in the training room at a time to maintain social distancing. Students will have their temperatures checked and must complete a brief health screening before participating in the training.

Registration for the event will close on Oct. 22nd and you will be e-mailed your on-ling link on Friday Oct. 23rd. Students will have 2 weeks to complete the online portion. Testing will be on Thursday, Nov. 5th
